New words in issue 2 of Archivio magazine. I haven’t published much for a while as I was finishing a novel, but here’s a new piece. Another collab with Brad Feuerhelm who gave forth some searing vernacular photos taken on a tour during the gulf war. My story is entitled ‘Black Hands’ written through the voice of a gulf war vet, who, many years later reckons painfully with his resignation at the limitations of mankind and the eternal enterprise of ritual, sacrifice and scapegoat. Out now with Archivio MagazineRead More
On May 25, I gave a keynote at a symposium at the Literature Colloquium in Berlin.
Entitled THE SWARM: LANGUAGE AS A FICTION the piece explores nature’s swarms as an entry point to looking at our autonomous dictatorial drivers and manipulators of language, consciousness and perception, covering the erasure of histories and the limitations in the semantics of identity politics in relation to technology.Read More
I'm going to be speaking in a couple of days (MAY 24) at the 'Afro Berlin' symposium, deconstructing autonomous societal 'swarms' and who dictates the polarised narratives, languages and new moralities we must abide by.
The next issue (not pictured) of biannual Italian magazine Archvio, will feature a new story from me. Entitled 'Black Hands' it dives right into the residual decay of PTSD and explores the codependency of ritual and sacrifice through the manic neuroses of a gulf war veteran. more soon.
Excited to return to The Lemon Tree House in 2018 as Artist/Writer in residence again. If you're a budding writer then this tranquil corner of Tuscany and the team makes for a great environment to reflect and connect.
And here's something a little different. Pleased to be part of the campaign to launch Mr Porter's debut collection which features four creative men including yours truly. I talk a little about my cross disciplinary approach and its foundations. Read the full article and watch the film here
In May I spoke at #Narrative17 a conference held by the Initiative of Narrative Journalism in Amsterdam. Fellow speakers included journalists such as chair Jaqcui Banaszynski, CNN's John Sutter & NPRs Lulu Miller. My talk was an overview of my current thinking space on the altering of perception, new instant mythologies and the binary relationship between aggregation of information and obfuscation. Exploring the relationship between all this and accelerated technologies on is the essence of my current fiction and art project, also looking at the potential power of fiction as a critical device in these new spaces.Read More
